MY STYLE TIPS ON BEAUTY NEWS NYC!

How to Pull Off the Top Spring/Summer Trends (Real Advice for Real Women)

TOP TREND: THE JUMPSUIT

Yes, they can be intimidating—but these super comfy, one-piece wonders are not just for runway models or super-trendy fashionistas.

This look is easiest to pull off if you’re straight up and down. Your straighter frame can pull of a style in a bold print with a cinched waist and pockets at the hips to add more dimension to your slender shape.

For my bottom-heavy darlings (like myself!) stay away from anything printed and go for a classic, slimming solid shade instead. Look for eye-catching details on the top-half of your body to draw all eyes upwards.

If you you’re busty and want to rock a jumpsuit just be sure to stay away from strapless or spaghetti strap styles. Instead, select a style with a sleeve to conceal a supportive bra. And a romper style will showcase your gorgeous legs.

If you have a tummy – go for a small-scale, all-over print to blur any ‘body flaws’. (Large scale prints draw attention.)

If you’re a classic hourglass shape – embrace a tied waist to show off your curves and avoid looking like you’re wearing a potato sack. Oh, and your enviable curves can pull off a vibrant shade—like this fabulous cobalt.

TOP TREND: THE FIT-AND-FLARE DRESS
The universally figure-flattering fit-and-flare dress has always been a favorite of mine. It’s one of those pieces that looks fabulous on everyone. (Trust me, I work with tons of REAL women on all of my TV makeover segments.)

This trend works best if you’re bottom-heavy to magically conceal a bigger bum. Go for a fresh spring shade—like this one in turquoise with an eye-catching embroidered neckline to draw the eyes upwards and downplay your heavier bottom-half.

(Nordstrom.com)
http://rstyle.me/n/htz3nvczn

If you’re straight up and down – a fit-and-flare style will instantly create the look of an hourglass figure (even when you’re really straight as a board.) Your slender shape can pull off bold prints to add wanted volume.

(Piperlime.com)
http://rstyle.me/n/hu9xivczn

If you’re busty – look for a slight V-neck with wider straps (provides full coverage for a bra) and showcase your great legs with a shorter (yet sensible) hemline.

(Nordstrom.com)
http://rstyle.me/n/hvbhevczn

To tone a tummy – go for a belted style to cinch-you-in and create the look of a waistline (even where there isn’t one.)

(Nordstrom.com)
http://rstyle.me/n/hvbtivczn

If you have an hourglass figure (jealous!)—show off your curves with a solid shade in a fitted silhouette. (Let your curves steal the show—no need for distracting prints.)

TOP TREND: SILKY TRACK PANTS
How many times can I tell you why I love this trend? First, they’ll instantly make you look super-stylish. Second, they feel like sweatpants. Third, they can work for every body shape.

A printed pant works best to downplay a bigger-bust because they’ll draw attention away from your top-half. Go for a pair in a statement-making shade and wear with a solid, neutral tee.

(Shopbop.com)
http://rstyle.me/n/fgabpvczn

If you’re bottom-heavy (like me—I wear them all the time!) be sure to go for a dark, slimming solid shade and pair with a longer-length, bum-skimming blazer to shed inches off your hips & thighs.

(Macys.com)
http://rstyle.me/~1Q28w

If you’re straight up and down and want to add curves—you can pull off a bolder look like a printed, brightly colored pair and wear them with a tee tucked in (to boost the look of your bum.)

(Bloomingdales.com)
http://rstyle.me/~1Q2aM

To tone a tummy, look for a style with a ruched waist (works ingeniously to hide a muffin top.) A slimming tuxedo stripe along the side of your leg will visually slim the look of you’re entire figure.

(Bloomingdales.com)
http://rstyle.me/~1Q2c8

If you have an hourglass figure go for a printed style in neutral shades—like this fabulous python printed pair.

TOP TREND: COLOR-BLOCKING
It’s one of those trends that is here to stay (you’ll see it everywhere) because it creates the illusion of the body you really want. Remember, darker shades will downplay areas of the body you wish to hide, while lighter shades will highlight.

Color-blocking works wonders if you’re round shaped and want to create the illusion of a slimmer, hourglass figure. Go for a casual color-blocked tee. I love this one with slimming black on the bottom and white on top to downplay a tummy.

(Shopbop.com)
http://rstyle.me/n/htz6ivczn

For all my bottom-heavy darlings, try the trend with a color-blocked blazer to draw all eyes upwards and downplay your heavier bottom-half. Pair with slimming dark wash jeans.

(Macys.com)
http://rstyle.me/~1Q2is

If you’re busty – stay away from eye-catching color-blocked colors on your top-half (this will only draw more attention to your girls.) I’d recommend going for a color-blocked maxi skirt to draw attention to your bottom-half paired with a solid shade tee.

(Piperlime.com)
http://rstyle.me/n/hvdxavczn

And if you’re curve-less and want to create look of an hourglass figure, go for a color-blocked dress (look for contouring color panels along the side of the dress.)

(neimanmarcus.com)
http://rstyle.me/n/hvdzsvczn

If you already have an hourglass figure – look for details that will continue to enhance your figure. A color-blocked waistline will to show off naturally slim middle and your fabulous curves.
